Former Barcelona goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta is surprised by the current financial condition of the club. Zubizarreta was the club’s sporting director under former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
“Obviously, the figures presented by the club are not very good, but La Liga checks them,” the Spanish press quoted Zubizarreta as saying. “I worked there and I didn’t have the feeling that things were going so badly. I really think that we were somewhat rushed things. It was difficult to accept that the club would not qualify for the Champions League, which meant selling players, but I think it’s normal.
I never had the feeling of a chaotic economic crisis. In fact, Bartomeu’s structure remained, and then he won the Champions League and La Liga.”
